I have a lot of unpopular opinions. Not just in books, but everything. Either this, or that I have the most clichéd thoughts. It’s like that quote,” She hates with every fibre of her being or loves with every piece of her heart.”Isn’t this true for all of us?
Anyway, now let’s talk books.
( Also, these are my opinions. I am not trying to insult or hurt anybody’s feelings. Everyone has different taste)
Q1. What is a popular book or series that you didn’t like?
All the John Green fans are going to curse me for this but I really didn’t like The Fault in Our Stars. I thought the writing was fairly good but the plot made little to no sense to me. I didn’t like the character Augustus Waters that much as well, so all of it combined has led me to really not liking this book.
I’d like to add one more book to this category and that is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I hated this book because it was not what I expected and it really let me down. It did not feel like it was written by J.K. Rowling and, I highly recommend people not to pick up this book.
Q2. What is a popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love?
This is kind of difficult but in the end, after looking through my bookshelf, I decided on Kane Chronicles. While the ratings on Goodreads is high, a lot of my friends who love Percy Jackson told me they got bored in the first few chapters.
I, on the other hand, absolutely adore this series. One of my favourite characters by Rick Riordan is in this series. Namely, Sadie Kane. Sadie is one character whom I can relate to. She is fiercely loyal, hot-tempered and is brutally honest. She is one of the characters who is sarcastic and constantly wears leather jackets, combat boots and highlights no matter what anyone says. This type of character in the books I have read until now is quite rare in a female character, so I loved seeing it here.
Q3. What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?
Okay, this is hard. Most, if not all my ships ended up together. The thing about love triangles is that there is hardly any competition. Everyone knows that one person who will end up with the main character.
I don’t have an answer for this.
Q4.What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?
I was going to say contemporary, but recently I’ve been reading it a lot more so I’m going to have to go with Sci Fi.
Q5.What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?
Severus Snape. I’m sorry, but I detest him as a person. As a character, one of the best developed and thought characters ever.
But he was a bully. He was a thirteen year old boy’s, whose parents didn’t remember him, worst fear. He was mean, spiteful and a really horrible person. It makes all of this okay because he loved Lily!
People who say that Lily should have given him another chance. She did. She gave James one and Snape a million. Snape just never really took that chance. So that’s why I feel that Snape is a despicable person.
Q6.Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?
John Green. After The Fault in Our Stars I could never pick up another book by him.
Also, Chetan Bhagat. I, for some reason, can’t read his books. At all.
Q7.What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?
People pining over their significant to such an extent that they cannot live (especially girls).
Worst of all, Instant Love. Also known as Love at First Sight.
Q8.What is a popular book or series that you have no interest in reading?
Twilight. Never picking that up. It’s hands down weird and creepy. The fact that Bella cannot live without Edward really irritates me. In the deathly hallows when Ron left Hermione didn’t like being without him but she stayed to plot the death of the most notorious villain of all times.
And watching someone while they sleep is creepy. Also, VAMPIRES DON’T SPARKLE!
Q9.What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?
The Vampire Diaries. The TV show is so much better than the books. The fact that they changed the plot and character natures itself helped. Plus, Delena is goals!
I highly recommend this show to people who like mystery, suspense, horror and drama.
